Short Courses

Most of our short courses drawn from modules which make up the foundation degree.  If you are trying to decide whether you have the necessary background knowledge to take one of these courses, do contact us.  Many of those studying with us have left school at 16  and find themselves surprised at how well they do, so don't be put off, give it a go.

Foundation Degree

This is a real chance to relate your Christian learning to an academic qualification.  You will not sit in a classroom and be lectured at, you are encouraged to bring the wealth of experience you have from your day to day life to the programme and to the assignments you will write.

The course is available as a midweek option or weekend option.  People who are interested in developing skills in community work take the community work pathway through the degree which involves attendance at the weekend option and at block taught community work modules.

MA in Contextual Theology

Is for those wishing to deepen their understanding of theology in the 21st Century.  Throught the taught modules the experience of the participant's own context is crucial as they engage in lectures, group discussions, guided reading and participant led seminars.

Research Programme

PTE  only accepts a small number of research students each year.  Research can be pursued at MPhil level or as a PhD.

The research programme offered by PTE is unusual in that students spend their first period on the programme working on a research proposal for submission to Manchester University.  During the period of working with an academic advisor fees are not payable.
